I found this nice blog on creating one’s life goals, some of which we might adopt for our own come the new year. It’s titled “9 Life Goal Examples to Help You Live More Meaningfully” written by Elizabeth Perry (https://www.betterup.com). The tip that resonates with me is #3, “Fulfill your professional dream.” As the saying goes, “Strike while the iron is hot.” Now that I just finished my new degree and have developed new research and writing skills, I want to keep the momentum by continuing to write as often as I can.

The article says we need an actionable plan to materialise our goals. One of my action plans is to create a blog – which I have already started. I learned how to create one in my World Literature course; we used Blogger. I struggled in the initial stage because I was not familiar with the technology aspect of it, but I got it eventually. Just patience and perseverance – and watching “how-to” videos on YouTube.
My new blog is on WordPress. It’s quite user-friendly. I started with a free plan, then upgraded to a paid plan to have the ability to monetise it through ads. Google Adsense does it for you once you upgrade your plan. I learned how to do these things by following their tutorials. You can learn anything if you put your mind to it.
The other tip in the article that I have been using is the use of vision boards. So if I want to travel, I would have a poster with pictures of places I want to see. Many people have testified to the value of using vision boards. I used this to obtain my US citizenship and that of Mar.

For me, above all my goals should align with God’s purpose for my life. How do we know God’s purpose for our lives? Proverbs 3: 5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths” (NIV). The key word here is “trust.” Have faith in God, give your concerns to him, and be confident that he holds the universe in the palm of his hand. Allow him to be the Lord and ruler of your life and your dreams will come to pass. I have seen this in my life, so I know.

Have fun working on your goals for 2024! May the Lord bless your hopes and dreams!
